McGrady was born in Federal Way, Washington to Gloria, a hair salon owner, and George McGrady, an airline mechanic. For High School, he attended Federal Way High School and attended the University of Washington majoring in Business Administration. He currently resides in Southern California with his wife Ilka and his 3 children. His daughter Hunter is a model and actress as well.
Career

He had planned to become a lawyer and was working at a bank when his sister entered him in a contest for a scholarship to a local prestigious acting school. After that McGrady decided to pack up and move to California to pursue his dream of becoming an actor.
His foray into television was quick as he was cast in one of the nations first Cherry Pepsi commercials. From then on McGrady has worked steadily in the industry for almost 30 years. He has guest starred on shows such as 24, CSI: Miami, Leverage and Prison Break.
He is a skilled painter and has been touring the various galleries he is currently being featured in[4] He stars as D3 Daniel "Sal" Salinger on the NBC drama Southland, which premiered on April 9, 2009. The show was let go by NBC after its first season, but cable channel TNT bought the rights for the show and the 7 produced episodes for the second season. Then the show was picked up again for 10 more episodes for a third season, beginning in January 2011. The show has been renewed by TNT for a fourth season. His character is a D3 in Los Angeles' South Central area who struggles with conflict at home between his wife and troublesome teenage daughter as well as the dark, gritty reality of gang life on the streets.
He recently completed lending his voice and likeness to Rockstar Games period game L.A. Noire for supporting character and partner to main character Phelps named Rusty Galloway, and starred along with Robert DeNiro and Forrest Whitaker and 50 Cent in Freelancers.
